According to www.justice.gov, Peter Picone of Methuen, MA., has been charged and indictment with eight counts regarding importing counterfeit semiconductors from China to the USA.
At least two of the circuits were intended for active-duty nuclear submarines in Groton.
The charges range from between February 2007 to April 2012, through two companies Tytronix Inc. and Epic International Electronics, purchased counterfeit product from sources in Hong Kong and China. The eight counts include, "conspiring to traffic in counterfeit goods, conspiring to traffic in counterfeit military goods, trafficking in counterfeit goods, conspiring to commit wire fraud, wire fraud and conspiring to commit money laundering".
Oxygen Electronics has always taken measures against counterfeit products, and companies who purchase and sell them. Oxygen Electronics has never purchased from Epic International Electronics and has had Tytronix as a disqualified vendor since 2006 as a result of our poor experience with the vendor between 2005 and 2006.
