Amazing Race Vietnam

The "Amazing Race" is a very popular television show in the USA where each week the “contestants” are tasked with traveling somewhere on the planet, and performing a task that would be performed by someone who lived at that location. The contestants literally get to travel the world for several weeks…. Each episode the slowest team is eliminated…

This past Sunday the destination was Vietnam and while I didn’t see the episode as I was traveling)…… the task had to do with e-waste…. Check out the link and the photo’s of the contestants who apparently had to “recycle” electronics…..  http://www.greenercomputing.com/blog/2009/10/06/amazing-race-e-waste-violators-best-friend

E-waste is one of the leading contributors to the trend of increased counterfeit and fraudlent electronic components appearing throughout the supply chain for electronic components.  A number of entities and organizations have been waging a war to change this trend.  A leader in this war is the Basel Action Network (http://www.ban.org/).

It is the opinion of Oxygen Electronics that CBS has missed the mark on this challenge, especially considering episodes of 60 Minutes which have highlighted the environmental, ethical, and exploitative nature associated with e-waste recycling in the far east.  For more information, please contact http://www.o2xygen.com/
